Mathew [ad] [ad] HISTORICAL AND BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCHES 207 The pattern-room covers a large space, which is a source of pleasure to the visitor and an optical feast to the practical machinist. It is a veritable storehouse and magazine for nearly every kind of machinery in use. Amongst work done by the Eureka Foundry and Machine Shop, can be mentioned mill engines, gang edgers, etc., which have proven their practical adapability for the purpose designed, and their popularity is ever on the increase. It gives us genuine pleasure to accord this space to one of the most successful enterprises and leading industries of Humbolt. It is a fair illustration of what energy and devotion coupled with ability, can accomplish. EUREKA SOAP WORKS Humbolt county has no other similar establishment in her midst, which fact makes it the more pleasurable to grant space in this work. In the manufacture of a superior quality of soap it requires skilled labor, first-class machinery and pure as well as fresh materials. Jameson & Cochrane have endeavored to supply the standard accessories, in the production of a home family soap, of superior quality. The result has been a signal success; their factory and store are filled to repletion, in a neat and attentive manner. The fine display made of choice family laundry and fancy soaps is unsurpassed by many larger establishments. Interior trades- people would especially favor their patrons by sending for a test order, and thus be convinced of the reliability of the establishment. Messrs. Jameson & Cochrane manufacture a full line of staple and fancy soaps from fresh and pure ingredients. Acids, ground glass and clay so extensively employed in the manufacture of Soaps are never used by these gentlemen. Where dealers do not keep soap manufactured by Messrs. Jameson & Cochrane, parties will do well to send direct to the factory. All orders will receive prompt and satisfactory attention. The Eureka Soap Works also manufacture a carbolic tree wash, adjudged to have no equal in destroying insect pests. Their Bleaching Soap merits special mention. This labor-saving family soap has a state-wide reputation. Less than half the exertion with superior results is the verified claim for this article. It is expressely manufactured and especially adapted for family washing. As an industry of Humbolt county this firm deserves much credit for their enterprise and energy displayed. It merits the undivided patronage of a generous public. The public will better appreciate the partial report of the Horticultural Committee, regarding the Carbolic Tree Wash: Mr. President: Your Committee appointed to test the value of the Tree Wash manufactured by the Eureka Soap Works. As an insect exterminator, it possesses great merit. We are well pleased with the results, and cheerfully recommend it to the orchardists of Humbolt County. Respectfully Submitted, MATHEW PERROTT, W.
