First en- gaged in the agricultural imple- ment business in Ravenna, O., 1887; moved to Omaha and be- came interested in the building and loan and insurance business; in 1898 moved to Utah and conducted a nursery business; moved to Los Angeles 1904 and purchased 10,000 acres of Mexican land and organized the Tampico Sugar Co.; reorganized the Tampico Sugar Co. after land of corporation was proven oil land and formed the Mexican Development Co., which is engaged in the cul- ture of sugar cane, the manufacture of sugar and the development of oil.
