D., 1885. Spent two years upon surgical staff of N. Y. Hospital; connected with medical examiners' staff of a large life insurance company in New York for eight months; moved to Cal. 1888; took charge of smallpox epidemic at San Fernando, Cal.; opened offices in Los Angeles; prominently identified with medical advancement of Los Angeles and Southern California for fourteen years; retired from active practice about 1902. M., and engaged in gen- eral contracting business, 1881-83; moved to Los Angeles, Cal., and established sash and door business in 1884; incorpo- rated and added planing mill, 1885; since his residence in Los Angeles has built planing mill and sash and door factories; at various times interested in sawmill business in Shasta, Tulare, Monterey, Cal., and Mexico.
