Moved to Wilkesbarre, Pa., and engaged in building business, and became inter- ested in real estate operations. Platted and placed upon the market several sightly residence sections of Wilkesbarre. For many years, en- gaged in the practice of his profes- sion, erecting a number of public buildings in Wilkesbarre, Pa., among which are: City Hall, Grand Army, Y. M. C. A., 1st Natl. Bank, Coal Exchange, Mallincrott Convent, and residence of Charles Parrish. Responded to President Lincoln's first call for 75,000 volunteers in the Civil War, 1861, and served term of enlist- ment. Engaged in coal business as a member of the firm of Leavenworth & Neuer, 1872; became interested in oil business near Bradford, Pa., in 1878, and developed a large area of territory in the western part of Pennsylvania.
