Received his education in college in Guebwiller (Alsace); attended architectural classes under auspices of Chicago Architectural club at Art Institute, Chicago, while employed as draftsman in offices. Associated as partner with W. J. Beman in practice of architecture in Chicago 1888-93; partner with F. W. Bauman in 1893; moved to Cal. in November, 1893, and practiced as partner with P. J. Barbar in Santa Barbara. Moved to Los Angeles March, 1894, and was employed by a number of architects until 1898, when he received his certificate to practice architecture in accordance with state law.
