Born in Paducah, Ky., March 25, 1867; son of Joseph and Affra (Reber) Petter. Married to Emily L. Wastier. Ap- prenticed and served apprenticeship in mechanical, plumbing, sanitary, heat- ing and ventilating engineering. Moved to Los Angeles, Cal., 1893; operated brass foundry in Los Angeles, 1893-95; followed mining and metallurgical engineering in United States, Mexico, Central and South America, 1895-1902; meantime invented assay furnaces, crushers and pulverizers; also studied medicine and surgery; invented numerous forms of surgical and orthopedic appliances, in- cluding a combination electric light, hot air or steam sweat bath, electric- charged water bath, sitz, foot and or- dinary hot and cold water bath all conveniently arranged in one appa- ratus to displace the ordinary bath tub in the home; also lately invented a new form of automobile construc- tion that displaces usual kind of transmission gear, pneumatic tires, and ordinary form of spring resiliency; now completing a book treating of natural law.
