S. govt. service, 1888-89; Santa Monica Bottling Works and wholesale business, 1892-96; engaged in mining as surveyor, field engineer, supt. and genl. mgr., 1896-1901; mining, brokerage and operating mines, under firm name of Schader & Johnson Co., 1901-07; organized Golden State Plant and Floral Co. in 1901 and became its pres.
