District 1877, which office he held for ten years; en- gaged in the lumber business with A. D. Adams, operating under firm name of Clark & Adams, 1891. Moved to Los Angeles, Cal., in 1891 and with his brother-in-law, Gen. M. H. Sherman, built Los Angeles Consolidated Electric Railway (now known as the L. A. Railway); vice-pres. and general mgr. of this corporation; organized Pasadena & Los Angeles Railway in 1894, opened for traffic 1895; built Los Angeles Pacific Railway connecting Los Angeles with Santa Monica, and opened for traffic by way of Colegrove, April 1, 1896; subse- quently built road to Venice, Del Rey and Redondo; the development of the Los Angeles Pacific system has been his chief work; he was pres. and general mgr. of this corporation and half owner with General Sherman until their entire holdings were sold to E. H. Harriman and the system merged into Pacific Electric system in 1910. Organized Mt. Hood Railway & Power Co.; pres. of this corporation 1906-11; pres.
