The engagement of Miss Velma DAILEY, assistant librarian of the local library and the handsome daughter of Mrs. Horace Dailey, of San Rafael, to W.B. McNAMARA, of Kansas.The marriage will take place in the near future.The couple met while the bride-to-be and the mother were traveling in the East.There was some trouble with the luggage and a young man stepped up and offered to help.They became quite well acquainted.Not long ago he wrote a letter to the mother of the girl, stating that he was coming to California for 3 weeks and would like to call.He was given an invitation and he made good use of the time, because now the couple in engaged.

LAWTON-BLACKLIDGE Nuptials

On Friday, December 31st, at noon, Miss Isma C. LAWTON, of Tomales, and Mr. H.J. BLACKLIDGE, of Oakdale, were quietly married at the Lawton cottage, the home of the bride’s mother, Mrs. D.B. Lawton, in Tomales, Rev. C.H. Stevens, of San Rafael officiating.Mrs. A.A. Lamoureux, a sister of the groom, was the matron of honor, the bride’s cousin, Wendell McCamish, of San Rafael, acted as best man, while Master Howard Lamoureaux held the ring.The happy couple will make their home in Oakdale, Stanislaus County, where Mr. Blacklidge is engaged in the building trades.

Marriage of Miss CUSHING

A pretty, though very quiet wedding, was performed here Wednesday, when Miss Eleanor CUSHING, known to her many friends more familiarly as “Dolly”, became Mrs. James JENKINS.It was held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in San Rafael.The bride was given into her husband’s keeping by her brother, who is a Stanford student and one of the directors of the Mt. Tamalpais Railway Co., of which his recently deceased father was the president.The young couple will reside in Mill Valley, where the bride’s mother has built for them a charming bungalow.Mr. Jenkins is engaged in business in San Francisco, and is also an alumni of the Hitchcock Military Academy.

On New Year’s Day, in San Francisco, Miss Cecilia WILLIAMS was united in marriage to Alexander ENOS, at St. Patrick’s Church, by Rev. Rodgers, formerly parish priest of Tomales, and an old friend of the bride’s parents.The happy young couple will reside in San Rafael where they have a host of friends.

Marriage Kept a Secret

On Saturday, the marriage of Miss Nettie KOENIG to Thomas NICHOLS, Jr. was made public -in other words the secret leaked out.The young couple were married in Suisun, Solano Co., on March 4th, 1909, and since that time, each has taken his or her own way, just as if nothing of importance had happened.Miss Nellie Koenig is the charming daughter of Mrs. Eva Koenig of San Rafael, and is well know by nearly everyone.In 1908 she was chosen Queen of the carnival in an exciting contest in which her universal popularity was shown.For the last 3 years she has been employed in the Journal office as bookeeper and proof reader and is a great favorite with both her employers and employees.Mr. Thomas Nichols is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Nichols of this city, and is a steady, reliable young man.For some time he has been employed by the Spreckels Sugar Refinery Co. at Spreckles, near Salinas, as an electrician.

The engagement of Miss Flora McISAAC to Herbert HAWKINS was announced in this city a few days ago, no date being set for the wedding.Miss McIsaac is the daughter of the late Niel McIsaac, a sister of Hugh McIsaac, former District Attorney of Marin County, and now an election commissioner of San Francisco.She is a member of the county Board of Education and principal of South School, Sausalito.She will finish the school term ending June 20, 1910.Mr. H. Hawkins is a brother of City Attorney Jos. K. Hawkins of this city.He is a progressive San Francisco businessman.

Miss DAILY is Married

Pretty Miss Velma J. DAILY, the charming and accomplished daughter of Mrs. Horace Daily, popular in social circles, became the wife of Wilbur B. McNAMARA, the scion of a prominent Kansas capitalist, on Tuesday afternoon.Dr. Warren Landon, the eminent theologist and associated professor at the Theological Seminary, pronounced them husband and wife.Dr. Hinicker, the well-known dental inventor, assisted the groom.The young couple departed the same afternoon for San Francisco enroute for the East where they will connect with a steamer for Europe, where they intend to spend a few months, taking in the capitals of the Old World.

DONNELLY-CLANCY

Yesterday morning, Miss Annie DONNELLY became the wife of John CLANCY, a popular engineer of the Northwestern Pacific Railroad Co.The ceremony was held at St. Raphael’s cathederal of this city and Father Clancy of St. Dominic’s of San Francisco, a brother of the groom officiated while another brother, Michael Clancy acted as best man.The bride’s sister, Miss Margaret DONNELLY, was the bridesmaid.They will reside in Tiburon, at the home of the groom.

Engagement

It has been rumored for some time that the popular Miss Theresa SCHEAR of this city will become the bride of Henry DE SOTA, the obliging and efficient station agent for the Northwestern Pacific, stationed at Union Depot in this city.From what can be learned, the date has not been set, but it is more than a month off.

The wedding of Miss Marian WRIGHT, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kirkham Wright, to Mr. Henry Avery CAMPBELL, son of the late Henry C. Campbell of Sausalito, was solemnized in the bride’s home on Scott Street, San Francisco, at 4 o’clock on Wednesday last, by the Reverend David Evans of Grace Episcopal Church.

On Wednesday of last week, our popular Supervisor M. BURKE went to SanFrancisco where he was married to Miss Ida MIBACH of that city, at St. Agnes Church. His friend Tom Richardson went along to act as best man.The bridesmaid was Miss Anna Petersen, a friend of the bride, and a San Francisco lady.Mr. Burke is a member of the Marin Furniture Co.Mrs. Burke is a charming society lady of San Francisco.They will reside in their new home on Shaver Street.

At 2 p.m. Monday of last week, John P. SULLIVAN of East Oakland, claimed Miss Ada V. MARTELLA of Alameda as his bride.The ceremony took place at St. Joseph’s Church in Alameda, Rev. Father O’Connell officiating.Miss Emma Martella was the brides attendant and Romeo Martella supported the bridegroom.After the ceremony the wedding party repaired to the Martella home on Lincoln Ave, where a reception was held.Mr. Sullivan is engaged in business in Oakland and he has prepared an attractive home in EastOakland for his bride, which they will occupy after a short honeymoon trip.

A double wedding will take place in Oakland the latter part of March, when James R. FILGATE and Miss Minnie RYAN, and H.R. SIMMONS and Miss Ida FILGATE will be married.Miss Ryan resides with her aunt, Mrs. Strubel, in San Anselmo.Mr. Filgate and Miss Filgate are from New Hampshire.Mr. Filgate came west a few years ago and became connected with the medical department of the army.Later he took a position as chemist with the Ferry Drug Store.

Robert J. BARR, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Barr of this city, was married on Tuesday at 12 o’clock at St. John’s Church in San Francisco to Miss Hazel ALFORD, charming daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.B. Alford, of Humboldt County.For several years the groom has held an important position with the Minor Mills Co. of Glenndale, near Eureka, and it was while in the North that he met his fair bride.The wedding was attended by only the near relatives of the contracting parties.After a short honeymoon, the happy couple accompanied by the bride’s parents will return by steamer to Glenndale, the future home of the happy young couple.

Miss HELEN McCORMICK, the 17 year old daughter of H.S. McCormick, of Berkeley, and George WARFIELD, aged 19 years, of the same city, were unwilling to wait until their majority, and knowing that their parents were strongly opposed to their marriage at present slipped away to this city on Wednesday and were married by the Rev. Griffin M. Cutting, rector of the Episcopal Church.George W. Warfield was at one time a student in the Mt. Tamalpais Military Academy and will be remembered by a large number of people in this city.
