Engagement of Popular Young Couple Announced

At an afternoon tea given by Mrs. Johannes Petersen Saturday afternoon at her home on Bay View Street, the engagement of her daughter, Miss Amelia PETERSEN to Mr. H.C. CHRISTOFFERSEN was announced.Miss Petersen is one of San Rafael’s popular ladies and is an active worker in the Eastern Star and Rebekah Lodges.Mr. Christofferson, the groom elect, is one of the owners of the Marin Furniture Co., and is looked up to as a businessman of high qualities.He is a member of the local Lodge of Elks and he made many friends during his residence in this city.The wedding will probably take place within the next month.

Rasmussen, parents of the happy bride at Marshall, on Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock, a very pretty wedding took place.Miss Marie RASMUSSEN, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. N.H. Rasmussen, became the happy bride of John COLIN of Larkspur.The pastor of the Tomales M.E. Church performed the ceremony.They will reside in Larkspur after the honeymoon trip.The bride is a sister of Nellie and Arthur Rasmussen and a niece of Mrs. Mastrup and R.L. and P. Rasmussen of Petaluma.The groom is well known and his parents are residing in Stockton.He also has a sister at San Rafael.

Last Wednesday evening, Miss Ethel Luella BISHOP of this city, was quietly married at the family home on Irwin Street to Mr. Stanley B. HALL, a well known contractor and builder of Berkeley.The wedding ceremony was performed by the Rev. Lynn T. Miss Ida COLWELL, a popular young lady of this city has surprised her friends by announcing her engagement to a young fruit grower of Lake County – George Frederick COLWELL.While the names of the bride and groom-to-be are the same, it is but fair to state that they are not related.The date for the wedding has not been set, and it will not take place for several months, possibly a year.

NEWHALL-SCOTT Marriage

The wedding of Miss Anna Nicholson SCOTT and Almer Mayo NEWHALL, which occurred last week in St. John’s Presbyterian Church, San Francisco, was attended by several hundred guests and was one of the society affairs of the season.The reception after the ceremony was held at the home of the bride’s aunt, Mrs. N.G. Kittle.The maid of honor was a cousin of the bride, Miss Louisiana Foster of this city, and the bridesmaids were Miss Virginia Newhall, Miss Frances Newhall, Miss Martha Foster, and Miss Ida Tietzen.Edwin Newhall filled the office of best man, and the ushers were Arthur Foster, Paul Foster, Spencer Grant, Sherwood Coffin, John Young, and Edgar Zook.The bride is also a niece of Mrs. A.W. Foster of San Rafael.Almer Hewhall is the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Newhall.The young couple will honeymoon in Europe for several months.

Eldridge, and a niece of Mrs. Harriet Brown, who is the groom’s aunt by marriage.She is a sister of Mrs. Cora Barnett.Mr. Brown is the eldest son of Mrs. Catherine McA. Brown of D Street, and his late father was one of the earliest and best known residents of Marin County.With Elvus Brandon, he is engaged in conducting the famous Brown & Brandon dairy on the old home place in Hicks Valley, west of this city.He is a prominent Elk, Knight Templar and Mason and prominent in horse breeding circles and raisers of fine stock.He is a brother of John McA. One of the most charming weddings that have occurred in San Rafael for many months was solemnized on Saturday evening when Miss Pauline A. PETERSEN became the bride of C. CHRISTOFFERSON.The services were conducted by Rev. Lynn T. White at the home of the bride’s mother on Bayview Street.The bridesmaid was Miss Oliva Petersen, sister of the bride, and the best man was C. Hanson, a long and true friend of the family.Miss Peterson, the bride, is the daughter of Mrs. Martin Petersen and sister of P. Henry Petersen and Miss Oliva Petersen.The bride was born and raised in San Rafael.Mr. Christofferson has not lived in this city for a very great length of time and is a partner in the Marin Furniture Company.

The wedding of Miss Dorothy DRAPER and Ensign Kirkwood DONAVIN, United States Navy, took place Sunday at Marinita Park, the bride’s home in San Rafael.The bride was attended by her sister, Elsa, as maid of honor, and Midshipman John Laurence Kauffman acted as best man.The ushers were Ensign Richard Turner and Midshipman Ernest Gunther.The ceremony took place at 5 p.m., the Rev. Marshall Cutting of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church of San Rafael, officiating.
