Miss Whittemore Married in San Francisco
Mr. and Mrs. D. H. WHITTEMORE have sent out cards announcing the marriage of their daughter, Harriette Irene, to Warren Crouse WILKINS, on Tuesday, the 17th of June, 1813. The wedding took place at high noon in San Francisco at the home of a relative, Mrs. E. B. Stone, No. 2404, Broadway, Dr. Charles F. Aked, of First Congregational church performing the ceremony. The handsome house was beautifully decorated within, and the window boxes, ablaze with scarlet geraniums and marguerites, contrasting prettily against the white walls, looked as though it might have been specially designed for the reception of the bride. The bride was the very impersonation of loveliness in a rich afternoon gown of blue chameuse and chiffon, garnished with lace, and the distingue (sic) groom beamed with happiness as he pledged his troth, the solemn and touching ceremony used, originated by Dr. Aked, impressed all with a sense of its dignity and sweetness. The bride gave the groom a ring with the same pledge that he made in placing a golden circlet on her finger. The entire ceremony recognized the absolute equality of the contracting parties. There was a jolly wedding breakfast, every guest bubbling over with fun and humor. It was a most congenial company, where every one seemed so glad to meet every one else, and mutual entertainment was without effort. Soon after the repast the bride donned a going-away gown of dark blue cloth, with tailored hat and all accessories to match. Mr. and Mrs. Wilkins left early in the afternoon for Del Monte, where they will spend their honeymoon in the Del Monte Hotel. Later they will go to Yuma county, where Mr. Wilkins mining interest demand his attention. They have a pretty home in the mountains, which they will occupy when business necessitates Mr. Wilkins presence there, but a large proportion of the year will be spent in their city house. The guests who attended the wedding from San Rafael beside the family were Mr. Lichtenburg, and daughters, Mrs. DuBois and Miss Lichtenburg, Major and Mrs. Chas. Christensen and Miss Christensen, and Edward Fox. |

Special Features at Eastman-Marshall Home Wedding
The marriage on Sunday afternoon of Capt. C. Roy MARSHALL, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Marshall of San Rafael, and Miss L. Gay EASTMAN, was celebrated at the home of the brides parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. Eastman, at San Anselmo. Rev. W. Angwin of the M. E. church officiated. The wedding was of unusual interest because of the popularity of the couple and because of some facts relative to the guests, who were composed of relatives of the family, and numbered fifty. In connection with all the beautiful and delightful settings of the brilliant event was fact that the Rev. Angwin, the officiating clergyman, had the honor, when he was pastor of the Santa Rosa church, of officiating at the marriage of three of the aunts of the bridegroom, and all three with their mother, Mrs. Marshall, were present at this wedding. Among other relatives present were three grandmothers and one grandfather of the happy couple. The bride was prettily and appropriately gowned and the groom wore his uniform. The bridesmaid was the grooms sister, and the best man was a brother of the bride. After a sumptuous wedding feast they departed for a tour of Mendocino and Humboldt counties. |

Kept Secret of Wedding Four Months
There are persons men, of course who assert with the wisdom of sages, that women cant keep a secret. They may be right in their contention if they place no limit on the period of time the subject is to constitute a dark mystery. But Miss Zada BURKHART, that was, is a petite and charming example of beautiful femininity who can with some originality, it is admitted, lay claim to having kept hidden in the innermost recesses of her mind the fact that for the past five months she has been Mrs. William HACKMAN. So delicious and wellguarded was this morsel of mystery that not even her parents were enlightened as to the status of the daughter. But it was too good to keep forever, and a few days ago she unburdened herself, without fear or trepidation, and enjoyed the parental blessing which she felt certain was forthcoming. Some wise ones there are, perhaps, who will say I knew it all the time, but Mrs. Hackman , a little bit wiser, knows better. The young couple were married early in June in San Francisco, where Mr. Hackman is employed. |

Popular San Rafael Couple Married
St. Raphaels church was the scene of one of the prettiest church weddings of the year on Saturday afternoon, December 20th, at 2 oclock when Father Tozzi performed the ceremony which made Manuel E. SOARES and Miss J. LEONESIO, both of this city, man and wife. The color scheme was pink and white, roses and carnations being distributed profusely. The bride was dressed in white and carried pale white roses, while Miss K. L. Leonesio, her sister, acting as brides maid, wore pink and carried pink carnations. John Martin, also of San Rafael, was t he best man. The wedding supper followed at the home of the bride on Second street to which had been invited about fifty guests. Amid rice showers, the young couple left that evening for Los Angeles on an extended honeymoon. Upon returning they will settle in San Rafael where Mr. Soares is engaged in business. The Journal joins in with the many friends of the young couple in congratulating them and wishing them all of the happiness of married life. |
