It became known publicly Monday that Lawrence McNEAR, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. B. McNear, of Point San Pedro, and Miss Imogene CHENEY, daughter of Mrs. Ima Cheney, had been husband wife since December 19, when the young couple were wedded in Salinas. The groom is a sophomore at the University of California, while his bride had been a student nurse in San Francisco. Lawrence McNear graduated from the San Rafael High School two years ago and entered the University of California the following term. Boy Brings Bride From East
Edward JEPSEN is back from the frigid east, where zero wind freezes the ears and white snow clogs the streets. He is back for good. We Californians cant stand that sort of thing, he says. He left here about a year ago for Benton Harbor, Michigan, in the employe of the Baker-Vawter Company, to get factory experience in the manufacture of loose-leaf stock. Later he traveled for the company throughout the east and spent some time in their stores. When the company wanted to place him permanently at Holyoke, Mass., he rebelled. There was another reason for coming back to California. Like all Native Sons he loved his home state, and he had been saying pleasant things about it, its climate, magnificent distances, mid-winter bathing and year-round sunshine. He had been telling these things to a certain pretty Benton Harbor girl, who might possibly at some previous time have lived in Missouri. Anyway, they visited a minister and then bought tickets for the Golden West, plowed through waist-deep snow to the depot and boarded the train. At Sacramento the thermometer stood above 100 degrees. Mrs. Jepsen gaspingly admitted that all doubt of her husbands veracity had oozed out as they came down through the valley, and positively ruined her complexion. The bride and groom will make their home with Jepsens parents for the present. Meantime he intends to open a business in San Francisco in the line with which he is familiar. |

The Congregational church was filled last Monday evening with friends, relatives and acquaintances of Miss Gladys Hartley OSTEYEE and Rev. Arthur ENGLEBRECHT on the occasion of their marriage by Rev. C. P. Martin.
Many of those who attended the affair were obliged, owing to the great throng gathered there, to stand in the rear of the pews.
The bride, the charming daughter of Leon Osteyee, and until her resignation recently a teacher at the Clark school, was attractively gowned in white, of crepe silk material. She wore a bridal veil and carried a pretty shower bouquet of orange blossoms.
Mrs. Helen Daugherty, as matron of honor, was attired in apricot crepe silk, trimmed with gold Spanish lace, a most beautiful costume.
The groom, formerly acting pastor of St. Matthews Evangelical church on Fifth street here, is now occupying a pulpit near Palo Alto, where t he young couple will make their residence.
Following the ceremony a reception was held by the young couple in the church parlors. At its conclusion they left for San Francisco, to take an early train the next morning for a Russian River resort, where they will pass about two weeks before going to their home.
The wedding march was played by Mrs. Earl Welliver, and Mrs. Lenore Niverson contributed a vocal solo.

The Sea of Matrimony holds no terrors for Rollin WHEELER and his pretty mate who has signed on for lifes voyage. For be it known that their enchanting little romance started on shipboard.
Twas mid the thunder (of applause), the flash of the light (from the footlights) and facing a rolling sea (of faces) as they tramped the deck of the good ship Pinafore that they first were mutually enamored.
As the dainty Midshipmite Miss Mildred Goodfellow charmed more than the audience which witnessed the several productions of Pinafore by the Marin Players recently.
As Rollicking Ralph Rackstraw in the same production, Rollin Wheeler, while not engaged in rendering his own lines, was silently applauding her perfect art before the critical but approving audience.
That much was suspected by their fellow thespians. The denouement came a few days ago, when Miss Virginia Foote, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. S. Foote, of Corte Madera, put a few odds and ends of gossip together and invited Rollin and Miss Mildred to her home. Gathered there were a score or so of their mutual friends. And they admitted everything.
Seeking the food offices of Rev. Robert Henry, of Larkspur, the young couple confided that they wanted to sign for the long voyage, without ostentation.. Whereupon they traveled quietly to Napa, attached their signatures to the papers, and embarked.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles BOST, of Corte Madera. Wheeler, well known here, and whose brother, Raymond Wheeler, is soon to take for his bride Miss Beatrice Cheda, of San Rafael, is a rising young businessman of San Francisco, where the couple will make their home.
