Gleanings from the Alta California: Marriages and Deaths, 1846-1850.
Mary Dean Alsworth, Dean Publications, Rancho Cordova, CA, 1980.

Reported deaths and marriages were extracted from California's first newspaper. This compilation starts with 12 September 1846 from the "Californian," published in Monterey, and ends with 23 September 1850 from the "Alta Californian," published in San Francisco. The information extracted was not always in full, but all pertinent information was included from the article. These reports came from all over California and in some cases, outside of California. The entries are arranged in chronological order. There is a useful personal name index in the back of the book.
