PART FOUR. BEAUTIFUL HOMES

San Mateo County is a community of artistic homes.

The picturesque and commanding beauty of the natural surroundings is often enhanced by the skill of the landscape gardener: the generous growth of foliage, the wealth of flowers, the gentle curves of sloping foothills, and the parklike groves of stately trees, all over an ideal setting for the supreme expression of the architect's art.

It is true that there can be found no other semi-rural community, so great a number of palatial residences and regal country estates.
