San Mateo County Genealogy <http://www.sfgenealogy.com/sanmateo/> IOOF Cemetery, Tombstone Transcriptions, Half Moon Bay, San Mateo County, California Transcribed by Dayna Chalif, December 2004. Posted by permission of Dayna Chalif [zoeys_mom at yahoo.com]. Traveling west on Hwy 92 towards Half Moon Bay, the cemetery is on your right or north side, immediately west of the Hilltop Mobile Home Park. Look for the row of cypress trees. This cemetery is just east of and immediately adjacent to Pilarcitos Cemetery. At present, there is no sign indicating that this is a separate cemetery, or an IOOF cemetery. The 2 cemeteries are separated only by a small fence with a dirt walkway that passes through them both. This cemetery is located on the former site of the original Nuestra Senora del Pilar (Our Lady of the Pillar) Catholic Church. The Church was destroyed by fire in 1876, and the International Order of Odd Fellows bought the land for a cemetery a few years after that. This cemetery is in poor condition and does not have a caretaker. It is overgrown with weeds and brambles and there is garbage everywhere. Many of the stones are broken, toppled over or missing altogether, and a few of the plots are completely covered with clover. Many graves hard to find because they are beneath overgrown trees or covered with weeds. Although the last 2 burials here were in 1981 and 1994, it has been largely abandoned since the late 1960s. All information was copied from existing gravestones when I walked this cemetery myself over the course of the month of December 2004. I would be happy to email pictures of individual gravestones to anyone who asks. - Dayna Chalif Adams, Glenn Brigham, b. 1968, d. 1994, Deeply loved, forever missed, returned to God Albrecht, Christina, b. 1846, d. 1917 Albrecht, Edward W., b. 1828, d. 1899 Albrecht, Edward, b. 1877, d. 1955 Albrecht, Elizabeth M., b. 1873, d. 1962 Albrecht, Frederick, b. 1865, d. 1944 Albrecht, Martin, b. 1868, d. 1954 Baecke, Raymond, b. 1884, d. 1948 Baker, Thomas Alan, b. 3 Jun 1958, d. 18 Mar 1974, age: 16y 9m, People so seldom say I love you and then its either too late or love goes…So when I tell you I love you it doesnt mean I know you will never go, only that I wish you didnt have to.
