To Fill In China Basin

Santa Fe Buys Land in Potrero District

SAN FRANCISCO, July 16.— The Santa Fe Railroad company, it is reported in real estate circles, has purchased fifteen blocks of land in the Potrero district for about $500,000. Much of the land is hill land and composed of stone. This land will be levelled and the stone used for filling in China basin, which has been leased by the railroad company. When this work is completed the land just purchased will have a value of more than $1,000,000, and China basin will have been filled in at a practically nominal expense.
