TEA AND A DANCE FOR CHRISTMAS GRADUATES.
Holiday Class of Girs' High School Entertained and Given Diplomas. A tea, followed by dancing, was given to the four Christmas graduates of the Girls' High School on Thursday afternoon last by the senior class of '06. The school auditorium was beautifully decorated with greens and berries, and refreshments were served in an informal way by the girls. The programme was as follows: Address by Miss Katherine Heinz, the class president; vocal solos by Misses Fannie Gettel, Nellie Sullivan and Rue Clifford, and piano solos by Misses Margot Elsenberg, Nellie Sullivan and Marian McCloskey. Dr. Scott gave an interesting lecture on "The Value of Education," and later presented the graduates--Corinne Gradwohl, Hazel Luiz, Hazel Chope and Selina Packsher with diplomas. Dancing concluded the afternoon. Much of the success of the afternoon was due to the efforts of the committee, composed of Misses Sybil McLaurin, Paula Wright, Cora Reichenberg, Ethel Pippy, Florence Mixer and Bertha Knopfmacher. Miss Hazel Chope presented the school with a landscape picture, in behalf of the Christmas class. Source: San Francisco Chronicle, 19 December 1904, page 14. |
