POSSIBLE
Marine Hospital Burial Index

Introduction | 1 to 280 | 281-560 | 561-838

This burial index (records #1 through #838) is for the cemetery behind the Marine Hospital at the San Francisco Presidio (McAnn, Jennifer; The Marine Hospital Cemetery, Presidio of San Francisco; The Presidio Archaeology Center, 2006). NONE of these burials have been confirmed. They are ONLY a possibility based on research.

The burial index presented here was copied from Appendix D. of the above-referenced report. The report also included an appendix (Appendix E.) that had a list of “known burials.” All of the information here was copied by permission of The Presidio Archaeology Center (August 2008).

NOTES for this section from the report:

Dates were approximated based on available information (birth date, death date and age). Causes of death have been standardized for ease of reference (ie, modifiers such as “acute” or “chronic” were removed), vernacular and variable terms have been changed to standard terms (ie, “consumption” and “tubercle of lung” became “tuberculosis”), and archaic medical terms have been updated (ie, “carcinoma” became “cancer”).
