Steamer Brother Jonathan,}
....................4th July, 1851}
We, the undersigned passengers on the steamer "Brother Jonathan,"
on this, her third trip from New York to Chagres, would take this method of
returning their grateful thanks to Captain Heber Squires, and his officers,
for the urbane and gentlemanly treatment we received while on board this fine
steamer; and would assure any of our friends who anticipate making this trip,
that if they place themselves under the charge of Captain Squires, they will
find as an officer and gentleman, he has no superior; and at its close will
say with, us, that whether upon sea or land, this pleasure trip will ever be
remembered as an oasis in the voyage of life.
