"HOWE/CRAMPHORN--Tuesday at 12:30 o'clock a large number of friends assembled in the First Methodist church to witness the marriage of Miss Lily CRAMPHORN of this city, and James Hamilton HOWE of San Francisco. Mr. HOWE is conductor of the Oratorio Society and Miss CRAMPHORN was Secretary; and the members of organization gave evidence of their artistic taste and skill by transforming the interior of the church into a lovely bower, where are tall fern mingled with holly and flowers. Over the chancel rose a canopy of cedar studded with bright Christmas berries with white and yellow chrysanthemums. From the center hung a ball of white chrysanthemums and from either side cordons of cedar and holly berries extended from the gallery and hung in graceful festoons around the church. The organ loft and front of the platform were concealed by a wealth of graceful ferns and tall palms, which formed a background for vari-colored chrysanthemums and roses; and the pulpit was banked with the same beautiful flowers. Franklin PALMER of San Francisco presided at the organ and the following musical programme was successfully rendered: “Nuptial mass,” Dubois; “Offertory,” Salome; “Wedding March,” Rousseau; “Wedding March,” Wagner. Up as the bridal party entered, Mrs. WEAVER-McCAULEY sang, in her own charming and inimitable way, “O Promise Me.” The grooming and his best man, Professor McFARLAND of Stanford University, entered the chancel as the bridesmaid, Miss Alice G. McMILLAN, advanced up the aisle. She wore a gown of pale pink organdie trimmed with satin ribbons and carried a bunch of pink carnations. The bride, accompanied by her brother, Alfred J. CRAMHORN, came next and she looked very pretty in her dress of white organdie, over which fell in graceful folds a veil of silk illusion. Her bouquet was of white carnations. At the altar they were met by the pastor, Rev. Alfred KUMMER, who performed the marriage ceremony. At the conclusion of this service Mr. PALMER played Mendelssohn's wedding march. In the vestibule of the church friends gathered around the happy couple with congratulations and good wishes, after which the bridal party was driven to the residents of Mr. and Mrs. Charles KROUSE, 129 Balbach street, where a delicious lunch was served. After a wedding trip to the southern portion of the State Mr. and Mrs. HOWE will be at home, after January 1st, in San Francisco." Source: San Jose Mercury, 17 Dec 1899, p.9. "HUMPHREY/WARREN--MISS ELIZABETH WARREN AND CHARLES F. HUMPHREY MARRIED--There has not been a more interesting wedding this winter than that of Charles F. HUMPHREY and Miss Elizabeth WARREN, which was celebrated Last evening, at 9 o'clock, at the residence of the brides' uncle, Charles CLARKE, 3529 Washington street. The cheery home had an artistic floral decoration, all the appointments were in the best of taste and the guests formed the merriest possible company. They were received by Mrs. Patrick REDDY, who took the place of the bride's mother. She wore a gown of black velvet combined with white satin and point lace. The groom is one of the well-known lawyers of this city. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John WARREN of Lancashire, England. Some six years ago Mr. CLARKE brought his little niece from England to be his companion, his comfort and little home-keeper. Three years ago she graduated, and about that time Mr. CLARKE built the handsome home where they have since lived and which yesterday, with all its elegant furnishings, was deeded to her as wedding gift. Now Mr. CLARKE will make his home with the young couple. It was just 9 o'clock when the wedding march noted the approach of the bridal party. Miss Susie DARNEAL, the maid of honor, led the way. She wore a pretty gown of light blue organdie over blue silk. The bride followed with her uncle. Her gown was of ivory satin. Both the skirt and waist had a handsome trimming of appliqué silk embroidery. Over all fell a tulle veil. Roses and hyacinths formed the bridal bouquet. In this beautiful frock the bride, who is fair, rosy-cheeked, blue-eyed and the possessor of a wealth of wavy light-browned hair, looked exceedingly well. In the billiard-room, where the chime of wedding bells hung, awaited the groom, his best man, William P. HUMPHREYS Jr., and Rev. Robert MacKENZIAE, the Officiating minister. At the conclusion of the ceremony there was a round of hearty congregation, and the friends dispersed themselves about the house. Some viewed the presents, which were shown in one of the upper rooms, and others found their way to the ballroom, where dancing was enjoyed. The floors were canvassed and every corner was a cosy nook. At 11 o'clock supper was served, and later Mr. and Mrs. HUMPHREY left for a southern wedding trip. Upon their return they will reside at their new home. The wedding guests were: Mr. DAVIES, Mr. and Mrs. VAN SECKLEN, A. CLARKE, Mr. and Mrs. COOPER, Mr. and Mrs. Tom MAGEE, Mrs. and Mrs. HILBERT, Mr. and Mrs. HAPPERSBERG, Mr. and Mrs. STEVENSON, W. P.
