"SCHUCHARD/LAWLESS--At St. Paul's church on Jan. 20, 1892, by Rev. J.S. McGOWAN; Adolph A. SCHUCHARD of Salinas and Mary F. LAWLESS of San Francisco. The marriage of Adolph A. SCHUCHARD and Mary F. LAWLESS was solemnized at St. Paul's church at 11a.m. yesterday, in the presence of a large number of the friends of the contracting parties. The church was tastily decorated with flowers. The bride was dressed in white silk, with orange blossoms and veil. She was attended by the Misses Annie and Polly SCHUCHARD as bridesmaids. The bridegroom was attended by Robert MILLER and Deputy District Attorney Pedro ZABALA as best men. After the ceremony the parties repaired to Good Templar's hall, where a throng of people came forward with their congratulations and partook of a bounteous bridal luncheon prepared for the occasion, until train time. The happy couple departed for San Francisco, and were followed to the train by hosts of friends who showered upon them rice and endeavored to fortify their good luck by throwing old shoes after the departing train. On their return next week they will go to house keeping in the house on Gabilan street recently vacated by John L. MATTHEWS. The presents to the happy couple were numerous and valuable. A bountiful supply of cake and good things from the wedding feast made the 'Index' force glad." Source: Salinas Weekly Index, 21 Jan 1892. Transcribed by Dee.
